We are a family company that is passionate about farming. It is important to us that our goods are produced to the highest standards and are healthy to you and the environment. 

We have wide range of experience and knowledge, we have mixed some traditional and alternative along with standard and cutting edge methods bringing the best products from our land. We are always keen to learn and improve as well as trying new things

Whiteside Farm and Knockiemore Farm are situated on Mormond Hill Lonmay Aberdeenshire are where it all happens.

Environment

There is already much said about cattle and environment and there are concerns about cattle and methane. But let's see the numbers. Cattle produce methane which is 28 times more potent to the atmosphere than C02. Methane only consists of 0.00017% of the atmosphere but there is 200 times more C02 which can stay in the atmosphere for 300-1000years compared to methane which only has a 12 year lifespan. 

Our cattle graze on meadows with mixed grass and herbs which are good for wildlife and absorb CO2 all year round.

Our cattle eat crop residue from harvesting different crops on the farm that humans can't eat and what otherwise would be wasted. They also produce environmentally friendly, organic fertiliser... 

Therefore beef production in our farm as a whole process is actually benefiting our environment.

Additionally we grow mixed crops to feed pollinating insects, birds and other wildlife including deer. These crops also feed the soil and the soil bacteria helping the natural environment. This in turn works a a natural fertiliser also benefiting our crops.

We also invested in renewable energy technology to minimise the impact on the environment. We have wind turbine which produces enough electricity to supply our farm and we export the excess to the grid.

We use biomass plants to run our heating and grain drier.

The cows have solar powered water pumps to pump clean drinking water for them and we also have plans to expand our solar energy use.
